Legendary comedian: Eddi arent is dead

Arent's big break came at the beginning of the sixties: the actor who in 1958 was to see "The doctor of Stalingrad" in a first small role in the drama, starred in twenty Edgar Wallace movies, including classics of the upscale trashing as "The squeaker" (1963) or "The sorcerer" (1964). In a series of Karl may movies, he gave about the Joker, in "Der Schatz IM Silbersee" (1962) and "Winnetou and Shatterhand in the Valley of the dead" (1968).

Since the late of 1970s arent worked primarily for television, as in the sketch series "It is done" or "Harald & Eddie" - together with Harald Juhnke.

Eddi arent was born under the name Gebhardt arent on May 25, 1925 in Gdańsk. He attended a humanist gymnasium, then he was called up for military service. Later, arent took acting lessons.

Arent was seriously ill in the last years, he suffered from depression and dementia. Together with his wife Franziska he lived at the hotel Neustadt Court in Titisee-Neustadt in the Black Forest, which belonged to him until 2005, then his company was insolvent. The hotel was bought by a nonprofit foundation, arent and his wife received life tenancy in the building until the end of her life.

As became known only now, Eddi arent is died and earlier this week has been buried on May 28 at the age of 88 years.
